Just got my main bass setup at Ring Music. John did a great job as usual, bass is sounding nice!

I'm going to be getting John to put a "lil 59" Humbucker pickup into my strat as well. Just waiting for the pick up to come in. I grew up playing a Les Paul and I've never quite gotten use to the sound of the strat, especially with distortion. I've used strats with a humbucker pick up before and I really liked it. It's a really guitar so hopefully I'll use it more with the new pickup.

How to Build a DIY Window Plug for Home Studio Soundproofing

Window's are always going to be a real weak spot when trying to soundproof a room.  While we did a lot to soundproof the new space (blog on that here ) and it's working out great, I really wanted to make sure that the loud guitar amps and drums bleed out to the outside as little as possible. To that end I decided to make some window plugs out of some of the left overs from the reno.  I took some drywall pieces and sandwiched a bottle of green glue in-between them and then I screwed some wood on either side to fasten the pieces better.  To create an airtight seal I got some Green Glue Company floor joist tape and I wrapped it around the plug a few times. The tape stuck great to the drywall but not to itself so I shaved off any excess and used tuck tape to make sure it was held nicely in place. *** Update 2025: I should mention that in a new location I had to make another one of these and this time I used 3/4" MDF which I feel worked a lot better*** First we gotta ap...

Time Capsule Hard Drive Upgrade (1tb to to 2tb or 3tb)

**** UPDATE**** I originally did this blog posting December, 2010.  My 2 tb drive recently died and I decided to try a 3 tb drive in the time capsule to get even more space.  Of course the net and the boards all have a lot of contradictory information but enough people said that the WD Green 3tb drive ( WD30EZRX )  worked fine.  I bought the boxed/retail kit version and had no problems.  You can scroll down to the bottom for a link to one on amazon.com).  Anyway, enjoy the post! Any business that has client's projects stored on it's hard drive should have a few different backup systems for said files. Hard drives do eventually fail and while there's ways to get files back those methods are expensive and not guaranteed. Hard drive space is so cheap now that there really is no excuse not to have multiple backups of your files. I’m starting to get clients coming to me with music they’ve made using Suno and other AI music generators, so I figured I’d write a quick post on how I can help people get more out of those tools.
